A JCPenney security officer ended up jumping into the car of a suspected thief to avoid harm Saturday evening.Police said that a security agent reported that he and another security employee observed the suspects stealing items from the store. After the two left the store and headed for the parking lot the agents approached the suspected thieves in the middle of the parking lot and that's when one of the suspects jumped into the drivers seat and the man put the car in reverse almost hitting the security officer. Instead, the officer jumped into the passenger door to avoid being run over.The vehicle was stopped on South Arlington Street and North Jenkins Boulevard. The suspects were taken into custody without incident.Miranda M. Christian, 19, of Virginia Ave in Akron. She was taken into custody and booked into the Summit County Jail. She was arraigned in Akron Municipal Court.A warrant for aggravated robbery has been issued for La'Bree S. Thomas, 18, of Welton Ave in Akron.
The J.C. Penney employee was not injured in the incident.
