He ran over a security guard during a robbery nearly killing him. Now, Nathan Simpson faces more than 25 years in prison.Simpson was in court Wednesday afternoon for his sentencing hearing. The man he ran over, Earnest Crain, was also in the courtroom.Simpson was high on meth at a south Wichita Dillons last January when he tried to steal a woman's purse and car-jack another woman.Crain worked at Dillons as a security guard and was run over when he tried to stop Simpson. Simpson ran over his chest, and Crain was in critical condition for nearly three months.Since then, Crain has had a hip replacement and is permanently on oxygen. Still, he says he forgives the man who nearly killed him."God says you've got to forgive people," says Crain. "There's no sense holding a grudge. It's not going to do him any good. It's not going to do me any good. I do forgive him. I don't condone what he did. There are consequences for what he did."Simpson was facing a total of seven charges, and he pleaded guilty in late July. The judge could have given him a maximum sentence of more than 32 years in jail.
