Mall security tackles kidnapper www.privateofficer.com



WEST DUNDEE IL. Dec. 7, 2007 -- Security officers tackled a man who grabbed a 4-year-old from among a group of children visiting Spring Hill Mall on Thursday morning, police said.Arthur Robinzine, 19, of 818 S. Wolcott Ave., Chicago, has been charged with unlawful restraint, aggravated battery in a public place and resisting arrest after he grabbed a 4-year-old at about 9:15 a.m. Thursday in Spring Hill Mall, according to police.The child was walking with his class from Elgin's Two Rivers Head Start near the mall's food court when Robinzine stood up from a bench and began following the group, West Dundee Police Chief Dave Sawyer said.As soon as Robinzine picked up the victim, he was tackled to the ground by mall security and school staff, Sawyer said. The child wasn't injured, Sawyer said."The whole situation was handled in a matter of seconds by school staff and mall personnel," Sawyer said.Robinzine is not cooperating with police and it is unclear why he was at the mall before the stores opened, Sawyer said.He is undergoing a medical examination at Sherman Hospital and is expected to spend the night in police custody, Sawyer said. His bail will be determined Friday morning during his bond hearing, Sawyer said.
