MOULTRIE GA. Nov. 16 2007 — A Moultrie woman was apprehended after she allegedly tried to steal clothes from Belk’s on South Main Street Monday evening.
Ashley Davis Aldridge, 26, of 402 Third St. S.W., was charged Monday with theft by shoplifting.
A member of the store’s security team stated he saw Aldridge come into the store at 5:42 p.m. Monday and begin looking around. Aldridge was carrying a thin purse when she first came inside, and she was seen carrying some clothes into a fitting room.
Aldridge left the fitting room, and her purse was allegedly much thicker than when she went into the room. Tags were found that had allegedly been taken off the clothing, and an alarm sensor was found in a pair of pants Aldridge put back onto a rack.
Aldridge allegedly tried to leave the store, and security brought her back inside and held her until an officer arrived. She was placed under arrest and taken to Colquitt County Jail, and the clothes were recovered from inside her purse. The value of the clothes was $104.
